Group Offerings

Moving To Heal offers Nia classes, health support groups and private celebrations that are open to any age or fitness level and can be used to support individuals dealing with a variety of health issues including chronic pain, anxiety, depression, fatigue, injuries and more. Join our safe and supportive community to reclaim your health and nourish all aspects of your being in body, mind, spirit and emotions. You will rediscover your authentic playful self through this healing integrative program that will leave you feeling more energized, grounded, relaxed and supported. Please note, group sessions are a Fragrance Free Zone.

What is Nia?

This is not always an easy question to answer as Nia isn’t something you can easily describe in a quick sound bite. Nia has depth beyond that of many standard fitness programs that allows people to develop a healthy relationship with their bodies based on their age and fitness level. At the end of a class students may describe feeling: joyful, relaxed, centered, grounded, happy, in less pain, less stressed, emotional release, energized, stronger, able to face the struggles of life with more ease, clarity of purpose and next steps, and able to get a workout without hurting their body.

In Nia we emphasize healing and play with a variety of music, rhythms, energies, emotions and movements. We can go from a high energy class to a more meditative experience. You won’t get bored. Nia has 7 cycles where we set a focus and intent (e.g. the feet with the intention of feeling grounded); step in to leave distractions behind; warm up all 13 joints; get moving to increase our heart rate; cool down; floor play with emphasis on strength and flexibility; and then stepping out bringing with us what we learned into our lives.

You can check out videos and even experience Nia with me here to learn more.

See the schedule below for class days and times.

All Moving to Heal group gatherings and individual sessions are a Fragrance Free Zone. Please don’t wear perfume and avoid wearing products that contain fragrance the day of class. Fragrance can be found in a variety of products including lotions, deodorants, hair gel, hair spray, laundry detergent, dryer sheets and more. Please no essential oils. If you use scented clothing detergents, we recommend switching to a fragrance free brand like All Free & Clear. We appreciate your understanding as this not only protects the teacher and other students from a reaction, but is also better for your health. Learn more about the importance of Fragrance Free. If you have any questions about this, please contact me.
